Liv Bonli -- debris

February 15, 2012 to March 3, 2012

Exhibition Statement

debris features a selection of works that have emerged from an ongoing interest in the interplay between architectural wreckage and architectural construction. The imagery of remnant building materials (2x4s, wood scrap, rope, plastic tarp) is used to explore both the generative capacity of building and the looming potential of sudden collapse or undoing. The tensions foregrounded -- between the explosive/dynamic and the provisionally assembled/bound together; between gesture and ordered structure; between density and void -- thematically intersect with a sustained investigation into the process and vocabulary of drawing.
